Four-time Grammy nominee Keith Urban debuts his newest video this week, for his latest single “’Til Summer Comes Around,” the fourth from his Grammy nominated Album of the Year Defying Gravity. The video is available at www.keithurban.net, CMT.com and on iTunes. It can also be seen on CMT.com and on CMT/GAC. It was directed by Noble Jones and was shot over two days last month in Los Angeles. The majority of filming took place in and around the picturesque Santa Monica Piers, before fans, curious onlookers and a throng of paparazzi.
The song, co-written by Urban and Monty Powell, already stands at #14 in just nine weeks on the chart.
Urban said of the song, “I had this idea about a theme park. For me,
there’s something fascinating and deeply sad about theme parks in the wintertime when they’re shut down. I loved that metaphor. So I said to Monty that I wanted to write about a guy who meets a girl at a theme park. They have this brief fling and she says she’ll be back, so every year he’s still there waiting. “Longing” is such a powerful feeling, and if you’re going to write about love, that’s a powerful way to get at it.”
Next stop for Urban, the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, where he’s nominated for Best Country Album (Defying Gravity), Best Male Country Vocal Performance (“Sweet Thing”), Best Country Collaboration with Brad Paisley for “Start A Band,” and Best Long Form Music Video for “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing,” from 2008’s “Love, Pain and The Whole Crazy Thing World Tour.”
Early this month Urban won Favorite (All Genre) Male Artist from the People’s Choice Awards and in December he was handed his first American Music, for Favorite Male Country Artist.
