KEITH URBAN OPENS ARIA AWARDS BROADCAST DOWN UNDER

Immediately following his appearance on The American Music Awards, and his win there for Best Male Country Artist, Keith Urban flew to Australia where he opened the Australian equivalent to the Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards – The Aria Awards.  Urban’s performance of his Australian (and American) hit “Kiss A Girl”, from his latest CD Defying Gravity, ignited the crowd who surrounded a stage positioned in the middle of the Acer Arena in Sydney - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed2SC8WSLYA.  It marked the second year in row that Urban appeared on the Arias, last year’s being alongside The John Butler Trio, where Urban and Butler played dueling guitar solos on the band’s hit “Get Funky Tonight.”

“It felt amazing to be back in Australia opening the Arias,” said Urban. “I loved being able to hear so much new music and catch up with old friends - and what a great way to kick off our return tour to Oz in December.  I’m especially looking forward to the fact that we’re touring here (Australia) with the exact staging and production that we’ve had on the road all this year in the U.S and Canada.”

Urban will launch is “Escape Together World Tour” in Melbourne Australia on December 11th at The Rod Laver Arena.  The entire production, seen on the U.S. leg of the tour - two stages, lighting, video screens, etc., will make its way across the Pacific Ocean to Australia in time to be assembled for the tour’s much anticipated debut.
